My Demo Reel

This is my Blacksmith gameplay audio redesign. Here I will be going over my techniques, ideas and changes to the soundscapes of the game. 

 

As he makes his way to the door, you will hear the wind howling from outside the cabin, a distant thunder strike as it is not raining, but the oncoming storm is noticeable. Behind the wind and the thunder, you can hear the low hum of Volunds power that surrounds him.

​​Approaching the door you can hear Volunds footsteps and the old wooden floor creaking beneath him. The scene shifts to Volund opening the door to the outside, his giant hands meet with the wooden door and there is an loud low heavy creaking as the door is opened. The outside environment is revealed. The wind is louder and present. The thunder is louder and a resident Crow greats him from the sky. Frogs are croaking from a nearby marsh and trees rustle in the wind from the distance. 

During the cinematic bit, Volund stands up out of his chair, and begins walking through his cabin towards the front door. Behind him are levitating crystals that fall to the ground. The camera then pans to the outside perspective as he opens the door.

For this project, I added foley sounds to Volunds leather clothing, belt and chair. The chair creaks as he stands up, his clothing rustling and rubbing together, and his toolbelt clacking and rustling with bits of wood leather and metal. 

​

The footsteps were recorded and edited one step at a time to add realism and depth.

​

The Crystals are hovering behind him with a Magical Hum. As Volund walks away, he lets go of his telepathic grip of the Crystals. There is a whoosh and then a twinkle as they fall to the floor. As they impact with the ground there are several thuds that are audible off screen.
